SAYA is a prominent Pakistani luxury fashion and lifestyle label launched in 2017. Specializing in contemporary women’s everyday and formal wear, the brand is renowned for its premium unstitched and ready-to-wear stitched lawn, cotton jacquard, and embroidered outfits.
For their Premium Lawn Collection, the brand required a fashion film that would capture the essence of luxury and emotion without using any human models.
Client Requirements
The client requested a vintage-themed fashion shoot for the Image Vintage Collection with specific creative directives:
- Black & White Aesthetic – The entire video had to be in mono-tone
- Detail-Oriented – Despite the monochrome palette, the intricate details of the suits – including texture, embroidery, and craftsmanship – had to be clearly visible
- Timeless Feel – The video needed to evoke the elegance and charm of a past era
The goal was to create a fashion film that felt both nostalgic and luxurious – honoring the brand’s heritage while showcasing its finest craftsmanship.
Challenges
- Shooting Alcantara Material in Mono-Tone
The dresses in the collection were made from Alcantara – a premium, textured material that demands careful attention to lighting and detail. The challenge was to shoot and edit the entire video in monochrome while still preserving the richness, texture, and intricate details of the fabric.
- Art Direction – Setting the Mood
To evoke the elegance of a bygone era, we:
Art directed the shoot with a simple piano as the centerpiece – a timeless symbol of grace and sophistication
Carefully styled the set to reflect vintage aesthetics without overwhelming the garments
- Shooting at Lower Frame Rate
We shot the video at a lower frame rate, which created the illusion of 60’s era footage – giving the film a distinct, nostalgic, and cinematic quality. This technique made the movement feel slightly dreamy and reminiscent of classic cinema.
- Post-Production & Mono-Tone Grading
In post-production, we:
- Applied monochrome grading while carefully balancing contrast and exposure
- Ensured that every fold, stitch, and embroidered detail remained visible and striking
- Maintained a soft, elegant visual tone that matched the vintage aesthetic
Result
The final fashion film was a timeless masterpiece – successfully blending the brand’s rich heritage with a visually stunning, mono-tone aesthetic. The video:
- Captured the elegance and nostalgia of the vintage collection
- Highlighted the intricate craftsmanship of the Alcantara garments
- Resonated deeply with the target audience, reinforcing Image’s reputation for quality and sophistication
The project was a testament to the power of art direction, creative technique, and attention to detail – proving that even in black and white, true craftsmanship speaks volumes.
